Andersons Bay Cemetery

Anderson Bay Cemetery has ash plots and family ash plots available for purchase. This cemetery is closed for new burial plots. Body burials can only be made in existing plots.

Ash plots and ash interments can be booked by all customers. Please refer to the burial note below for body burials.

Ash scattering in the Rose Garden is available.

BURIAL NOTE: Due to the legal requirements (Burial and Cremation Act 1964) and the Dunedin City Council's practices and procedures that surround body burials, the Dunedin City Council recommends that all body burials be arranged through a registered funeral director. In the first instance please contact a funeral director to progress.

DCC operates a chapel attached to the crematorium facility located within the Andersons Bay Cemetery, 198 TomahawkRoad, Andersons Bay.

The chapel seats up to 115 people and is available for hire for all forms of funeral service or ceremony. The relatives or friends of the deceased may appoint any person to officiate at the ceremony.

Services are generally in one of two forms – either a committal service (1 hour) or a full funeral service (2 hours). Bookings are available from 9:30am - 3:30pm

If chapel bookings are not cancelled four hours before the time of the chapel hire, the fee will still be charged.

The chapel can be booked by the general public or a funeral director (cremation must be booked by funeral director or approved party)

Anderson Bay is the home to Columbarium Wall and the Court of Relections (Memorial Wall).

The Columbarium Wall is specially designed as an above-ground memorial situated in the grounds of the Crematorium. The wall consists of a series of individual niches into which the cremated ashes are placed. The niche is then sealed by its own granite memorial plaque.

The Court of Reflections also has a memorial wall where a remembrance plaque can be placed. This peaceful courtyard has been provided for those who wish their cremated ashes to be scattered in a place of tranquillity and allows for plaques to be placed as a permanent memorial.

These commemorative walls can be booked by the general public or a funeral director.
